Our recent survey showed an alarming number of people living in the riverbed. A total of 375 people were found in the area we survey. Sadly, most won't accept housing and other services from public agencies when initially offered.
Care packages can be a way to build a relationship and provide much needed items such as socks and toiletries. Socks are the number one item requested. Over time, trust can build and people will begin to accept housing and other offered services.
Your gift of a pair of socks help a lot. Adult warm socks or athletic socks.
We also welcome other items to be put in a care package.
Donations can be dropped off at our office M - F 9 - 2PM anytime before the event or give us a call for other arrangements at 619-297-7380.
If you prefer, make a donation of $10 or more, and we will buy items that are needed for the care packages.

Care packages will be given out along with our social service partner PATH San Diego and other groups.
Volunteer your time to help distribute the care packages. If you have a few hours each week, you can also join our regular team that identifies where people are living so they can receive assistance, and to make sure they are counted.

CARE PACKAGE ITEMS NEEDED:
Wet wipes travel packs of 20 (biodegradable preferred)
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
1-gallon re-sealable bags for the care packages
Rain ponchos (individually wrapped)
Individually wrapped protein or food bars - soft are prefered (we'd like to incude 6 in each package)
OTHER ITEMS
Warm caps or hats
NOTE: We partner with the San Diego Humane Society for pet needs. So pet items are not needed to help our pet friends!
