9amCoast to Valley Bike Ride and Mural Tour
Join the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition on a moderate ride along the San Diego River and visit 5 community River Murals along the way. League Cycling Instructors will be on hand to help guide the group and answer any questions regarding safe cycling. Riders will meet at the Paw Print at Dog Beach, Ocean Beach at 9am.

8am San Diego River Run 5k Run/Walk
Don’t miss your chance to be the first to run/walk the NEW 5k course that features a SNEAK PREVIEW of new trails and lakes that will soon be connected to the Lakeside River Park's existing Trail. 9am Canyon Habitat Nature Tour in University Heights
Explore a wonderful canyon habitat with a birding and plant hike in University Heights. Although right in the middle of San Diego, Buchanan Canyon is home to oaks, mountain mahogany, as well as California Thrashers, hawks, and kingbirds. Johnson Avenue in University Heights.

Join San Diego Canyonlands, the Serra Mesa Community Council and Friends of Ruffin Canyon to learn more about this rich natural oasis next to the Serra Mesa Library- Learn about the only vernal pools in Serra Mesa, the rich riparian zone the Library Trail follows, and the native plants and animals that call this canyon home. 10am-Noon Family-Friendly San Diego River Birding Walk
Join the San Diego Audubon Society for a family-friendly bird walk along the San Diego River seeing a variety of shorebirds and waterfowl. Young ‘birders’ will learn how to use binoculars, observe the unique features and behaviors of birds, and explore the river’s special habitats. Binoculars will be provided, but please bring your own if you have them. We’ll meet on the north side of the river, east of the W. Mission Bay Blvd bridge, on the service road that runs parallel to the river and Sea World Drive. From Sea World Drive, head south onto the service road at the South Shores Park stop light. Turn right and proceed about ¼ mile west on the service road. Look for the San Diego Audubon booth. Parking is available along the side of the service road

10am-Noon Canyon Exploration in Tierrasanta
Join the Friends of Tierrasanta Canyons on a hike thru several wonderful open space areas and trails in the community. Approx. 3 miles. Trail boots recommended. After the hike, you are invited for an optional lunch at Gaetano's, a casual Italian restaurant. (You will need to pay for your lunch!). Meet at the Tierrasanta Rec Center at 11238 Clairemont Mesa Blvd.

10am-4pm Barona Cultural Center and Museum Open House
Learn about the Barona Band of Mission Indians and their ancestors who utilized the San Diego River for thousands of years. The Barona Cultural Center & Museum, which is celebrating its 11th anniversary this year, is a fantastic place to visit. 1095 Barona Road.

10am-Noon Underwater Robot Collects Scientific Data from the River
Sea Perch, the compact remotely controlled underwater vehicle designed by M.I.T. and built by student teams, will be demonstrating its capabilities in capturing scientific data on the water quality at the San Diego River. Mission Valley Preserve on Friars Road.

11:30am The Jackstraws--Live Performance of Music and Theatre
The Jackstraws combine theater and folk music, with colorful (and culturally accurate) costumes. Themes range from Irish and English folk music, Bush Band, and Renaissance music to pirate ditties and nautical songs of yachtsmen. Mission Valley Library 2123 Fenton Parkway.

1pm-3pm Guided Birding Walk at the Famosa Slough
Come by for a visit to Famosa Slough, an urban coastal wetland with lots of wildlife, native vegetation, and tidal flushing. This is an excellent opportunities to watch local wildlife. Bring binoculars if you have them. Famosa Blvd. at the kiosk south of West Point Loma Blvd.

A beautiful 8 mile hike to the top of the San Diego River in the Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserve! Explore the rolling hills and native grasslands and woodlands, and enjoy a scenic picnic. Site is near Julian. Some elevation change. Bring your camera, the wildflowers should be spectacular!

Explore the San Diego River Park Foundation’s 516-acre wildlife preserve. Bring your camera and binoculars for the wildflowers and breathtaking views. See grinding rocks, historic structures and more as you explore on your own. Volunteers will also be working on enhancing a trail. Join in or do both! Tools and supplies provided. Enjoy the morning at this wonderful community garden displaying native varietals and low water using plants. Visitors are welcome to come by and help out with different gardening tasks, or just say hello and go for a stroll through the garden.
